Sewri- Flamingos have Arrived

Hi Birds,

Six of us (Myself,Ashwini,K.B.Singh,Sandeep,Mareyum & Shriram) had good birding today morning in Sewri.The tide was moving away when we arrived at 7.00 am.

Highlights for today were the 4000+Lesser Flamingoes (We did not see any Greater ...but some flamingoes were to far to point out) & A Black - Capped Kingfisher.

Waders included Common,Terek & Curlew sandpipers,Eurasian Curlews,Black tailed Godwits,Red Shanks,Little & Temminck's stints, Lesser,Little ringed & Greater sand plovers,A Grey plover.

Other birds seen were Brown headed gulls,which werenumerous,Some Black headed gulls,Gull billed terns,A caspian tern,A little tern giving a glimpse,white & grey wagtails.One Little egret,Cattle,smaller & large egrets,Pond heron,Little green heron.Apart from the black capped,there were common blue & white throated kingfishers.

Along the BPT Road (Myself & Ashwini) Rosy starlings,Brahminy starlings,Longtailed shrikes,Marsh harrier,Ashy prlnia,spotted dove.

The Flamingo days are back..........................................
